Outpatient Total Joint Team Training

As part of Smith+Nephew’s new Positive Connections+ initiative, Outpatient Total Joint (OTJ) Team Training enables surgeons and their ASC staff to learn how to establish a viable outpatient total joint program in the ASC setting. The OTJ Team Training program will provide a comprehensive and immersive curriculum on building a consistent and repeatable outpatient surgery experience for total joint patients. Each OTJ site visit provides the opportunity to customize the agenda based on the learning needs of the visitors.

The curriculum will feature peer-to-peer training for surgeons, administrators, PAs, facility staff, and anesthesiologists including:

  • Hands-on navigator training to optimize patient selection, communication, and data collection
  • Utilization of emerging technology and patient algorithms to increase throughput and maximize OR efficiency
  • Tools to capture PROMs data
  • Training on pain management protocols, patient flow, clinical efficiencies and post-acute care
